For many college students, turning 18 comes with newfound freedoms: voting, moving out, and for an increasing number, getting their first tattoo. Just as turning 21 is associated with a first drink at a bar, getting inked at 18 has become a rite of passage for students entering adulthood.
At Western Washington University, each department has unique classrooms designed to cater to the specific needs of its students and professors. These spaces reflect the different ways students learn and interact with their respective disciplines.
Finding off-campus housing can be overwhelming for students, but one event aims to make the process easier. On Feb. 27, students could join Off Campus Living at the House Hunting Lab in Haggard Hall, room 112, from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. The event will provide hands-on guidance, allowing students to search for housing with immediate support from experts.

For incoming students at Western Washington University, securing a parking permit may be a long shot. As waitlists and permits are assigned based on credit seniority, students with more credits have a better chance of obtaining one. Even for those who do get a permit, finding a parking spot can be a challenge due to limited availability.
Western Washington University students and faculty are raising concerns over overcrowded classrooms, particularly in the university’s older buildings, such as the Humanities building.
