Nothing can prepare you for a sudden loss. You can hope and pray for the safety of all those around you, but sometimes, we lose the people we care about and there’s nothing we can do. I lost my best friend on Oct. 31, 2024.

Western student collaborates with the Seattle Opera’s Creation Lab

On a hot day in August 2024, music student and singer Nehemiah Jones drudges his way home, exhausted from his job as a desk attendant in the Fairhaven dorms at Western Washington University. As he chats to his partner on the phone, the device buzzes. He sees that it’s a notification from his professional email and realizes that it may be important.

Students gathered in Red Square for a protest held by WWU Divest Apartheid on Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 2 p.m., Many embraced each other, as they listened to speakers recite speeches, poems and information regarding the movement’s actions and calls for financial clarity against the Western Washington University administration.
