WWU responds to federal threats to DEI

In a Feb. 15 “Dear Colleague” letter, the U.S. Department of Education (DOE) directed preschool, elementary, secondary and postsecondary educational institutions, as well as state educational agencies across the country to comply with existing civil rights law and the Supreme Court’s 2023 decision in Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard (SFFA). The decision deemed racial preferences in college admissions to be unlawful.

Washington State Supreme Court to visit WWU

On Wednesday, Feb. 19, the nine Washington State Supreme Court justices will visit Western Washington University to hold a Q&A session from 9-11 a.m. in the Wilson Library Reading Room. On Thursday, Feb. 20, the court will hear two cases from 9-11 a.m. in the Wilson Library Reading Room. Both events will be open to the public.

MoNA invitational features work of WWU ceramics professor

Western Washington University Associate Professor of Ceramics and Foundations Ryan Wilson Kelly was raised in a house of creatives — his mother is a painter, his father a writer and his older brother a ceramicist. He recalls interacting with the potter’s wheel for the first time one Christmas break in high school.
