The Outback gears up for spring and celebrates its 50th Anniversary

As spring approaches, The Outback Farm at Western Washington University looks forward to sunshine and warmer temperatures; however, beautiful weather isn’t all the farm has to celebrate this year. Established in 1972, this year The Outback celebrates its 50th Anniversary with some upcoming workshops, festivities and exciting construction projects on the farm.

Two clothing swaps were held by Western Washington University organizations. T.A.G. Team for Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming Students held their quarterly clothing swap on March 2, while Zero Waste Western along with University Residences Sustainable Living hosted a Free Sustainable Clothing Swap on March 4.

Thankfully, Western has plenty of options available to those in search of a caffeine fix. Though places like the cafe inside Miller Market have temporarily closed due to the pandemic, coffee can still be found at various cafes and eateries around campus.

This month the Instagram account, WWU Viking Memes, will make matches among Western Washington University students for its third year in a row. The creator of the account usually sifts through an average of a couple hundred students, matching applicants in either a friendship or relationship pairing. The event will be open Feb. 5 through 11:59 p.m. on Feb 8.
