WWU faces effects of $18 million budget cuts

Western Washington University announced a comprehensive cost-reduction strategy in response to several financial deficits last month. The administrative structure of several departments and divisions of the larger campus will be reorganized, and, approximately 8% of Western’s annual operating budget will be cut in increments through the 2026-2027 academic year.

WAWU set to vote on executive board elections

Western Academic Workers United is voting to establish its inaugural executive board. All 20 positions on the board will hold equal powers of administration, which include president, vice president, sergeant at arms and recording secretary, among others.

WWU commences Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Western Washington University marked October as the beginning of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The university continues the national, yearslong advocacy campaign that Western began participating in 2019, said WWU Survivor Advocacy Services Coordinator Deidre Evans.

Students gathered in Red Square for a protest held by WWU Divest Apartheid on Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 2 p.m., Many embraced each other, as they listened to speakers recite speeches, poems and information regarding the movement’s actions and calls for financial clarity against the Western Washington University administration.
