Rushing through Western’s Libraries Gallery, students may not realize they are passing an inspiring graphic narrative of an Honors Senior Project called “Smile.”
Vibrant artwork covers the walls of the artist’s domain. Sketches of tattoo designs are haphazardly pinned to any surface that will hold them. The customer, a canvas for their artist, sits and begins to uncover the space where blood will rise and ink will flow. There, from the intermixing of blood, ink and steel, an art emerges worthy of permanence.
There’s a feeling one gets when riding the fine line between what they shouldn’t be doing and what they should. The fear-inspired pit that pulls someone back from adventure can ironically fuel the passion that drives them. The Wells brothers are not keen on backing down from that gamble, and sometimes it costs them.
