Logging on Galbraith Mountain causes temporary trail closures

Galbraith Mountain is one of the most well-renowned mountain biking locations in the state of Washington. With over 65 miles of public trails and a wide degree of trail difficulty it attracts mountain bikers in large numbers. But one possible hindrance to this two-wheeled playground is that Galbraith Mountain, like many mountain biking destinations in Western Washington, is subject to logging.

$30,000 goes to water quality research on the Nooksack River

Western Washington University professor of biology, David Hooper, received a $30,000 grant to conduct research on the links between policy and riparian restoration for nutrient retention in the Nooksack River watershed. He’s conducting this research along with two first-year graduate students majoring in biology, Astoria Tershy and Patrick Damaree in collaboration with Amanda Stahl, a post doctorate at Washington State University.
