By Walker Sacon The Western men’s basketball team opened its NCAA season on Friday, Nov. 10, with an 87-45 victory over Notre Dame de Namur University at Sam Carver Gymnasium. Western’s defense was suffocating as they blocked 12 shots while only allowing Notre Dame de Namur to convert 30.4 percent of their field goal attempts. Logan Schilder blocked five shots in the first half for the Vikings and finished with his first career double-double. The Vikings will play the University of Hawaii Hilo at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11, in finale of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference/PacWest Conference Challenge.
