Women’s Soccer

Last Result: 3-1 victory in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Championship Final over Seattle Pacific University on Nov. 5, at Robert S. Harrington Field.

Overall Record: 19-0-1.

Standing: First in the GNAC and ranked number one nationally.

Next Game: NCAA Division II West Regional, 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at Harrington Field.

Western won its third GNAC Tournament Title and earned an automatic bid into the NCAA Division II Tournament. The Vikings received the first seed in the tournament and a bye in the first round. They will play the winner of Central Washington University vs. Seattle Pacific University.

Men’s Soccer

Last Result: 5-1 victory over Concordia University, Saturday, Nov. 5, in Portland, Oregon.

Overall Record: 9-4-4.

Standing: Finished second in the GNAC, and earned a six seed in the NCAA tournament.   

Next Game: Against third-seed Dixie State University at noon Friday, Nov. 11, in La Jolla, California.

Concordia University’s lone score was the first goal Western conceded since Oct. 15. After a 4-4-4 start, the Vikings won five consecutive matches and outscored opponents 13-1 in the stretch.

Volleyball

Last Result: 3-0 (25-19, 25-22, 25-20) sweep over Central Washington University, Nov. 5, in Ellensburg.

Overall Record: 17-7.

Standing: Second in the GNAC behind Alaska Anchorage University and ranked number 15 nationally.

Next Game: At Seattle Pacific University at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, at Whatcom Pavilion.

Western’s 11-match win streak was broken against Northwest Nazarene University 3-2 (17-25, 25-15, 25-19, 25-27, 19-17) on Nov. 3, in Nampa, Idaho. The next four games for the women’s volleyball team will be at Whatcom Pavilion.

Men’s Basketball

Last Result: 109-103 loss against the University of Washington in an exhibition game, Nov. 3, in Seattle. 

Next Game: Regular-season debut against Sonoma State University in the Pioneer Challenge, 5:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 11, in Hayward, California.

Western was led by a game-high 28 points from senior forward Jeffrey Parker in the exhibition game against the University of Washington. The game was back and forth and featured 12 lead changes.

Women’s Basketball

Last Result: 91-75 victory over Puget Sound University in an exhibition game on Saturday, Nov. 5, at Whatcom Pavilion.   

Next Game: Regular-season debut against Humboldt State University in the West Region Challenge at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, in Seattle.

Western finished its preseason schedule with a 3-0 record while outscoring opponents 280-181. Senior guard Taylor Peacocke averaged 22.3 points per game during the preseason.

Cross Country

Last Result: The Men finished seventh and the women finished eighth at the NCAA Division II West Regional Championships on Saturday Nov. 5, in Billings, Montana.

Next Event: The season officially ended for the men's and women’s teams.

This is the second time in nine seasons both teams will miss the national championships in the same season. Junior Isaac Derline could still advance as a top-placing runner from a non-advancing team.

Rowing

Last Result: The women’s team competed at the Head of the Lake Regatta on Sunday, Nov. 6, in Seattle with both the V8 and JV8+ finishing seventh and the 3V8+ finishing fourth.

Next Event: The Head of the Lake Regatta closes out the fall regatta schedule for the women’s rowing team. The Vikings will resume competition on March 17, at  the Pacific Lutheran University Regatta on American Lake in Lakewood.
