56th minute: Close call for the Vikings, as Grand Valley State lands a corner just outside the six-yard line but Homer drops to the ground to deny the shot. Vikings still lead 2-1.

55th minute: Grand Valley State looks much more composed to start this second half, getting the ball into the box and forcing the Western defense into some uncomfortable situations.

49th minute: Western goalkeeper Ashley Homer has not been tested too many times in this tournament but she is cleanly fielding GVSU shots and looks confident.

46th minute: The second half is under way and the Lakers are on the attack.
Halftime
Catch your breath. Western leads 2-1 at halftime of the Division II women's soccer National Championship. Western dominated possession early in the match, applying pressure at every opportunity. Senior forward/midfielder Caitlyn Jobanek capitalized, putting the Vikings on the board in the 18th minute with a powerful shot from 23-yards away. Grand Valley State equalized on a breakaway in the 33rd minute, but Jobanek found the back of the net again just four minutes later with a fantastic curling strike from the corner of the 18-yard line, recapturing the lead.

37th minute: 2-1. Caitlyn Jobanek strikes again. The senior forward/midfielder runs parallel across the 18-yard line and curls a shot into the far post. The Laker goalkeeper had no chance at that one. Another classy goal from Jobanek who fired the shot with a defender on her hip.
