Last Wednesday I made the difficult decision to sacrifice a day at Downtown Sounds in Bellingham for a nostalgic night of 90s glory at Marymoor Park in Redmond, Washington.
Third Eye Blind and Dashboard Confessional brought classic hits from the 1990s and early 2000s to the packed outdoor park.
By 6:30 p.m. the whole lawn was filled with blankets, chairs and excited concertgoers.
While Dashboard had the crowd reminiscing of high school teenage angst, Third Eye Blind gave the crowd a reason to stand-up and rock-out.
In addition to Third Eye Blind’s classic hits such as “Jumper,” and “Never Let You Go,” they played a few tracks off of their new album that was released in June, six years after their last album released in 2009. The new album gives Third Eye Blind fans a similar alternative-edge that listeners are used to hearing from the beloved 90s band but with a little more rock and a little less pop.
The concert ended with Third Eye Blind’s much appreciated encore of their classic hit, “Semi-Charmed Life,” giving concert-goers an excuse to sing-along long after the concert was over.
Local food trucks on site included the popular Bread and Circuses for all the bread cravers, Dirty Dog Hot Dog, Pompeii Pizza and many others. Local beer and wine’s were also served and could be taken out of the beer garden to the comfortable lawn spots.
Marymoor is a great outdoor venue that puts on unforgettable shows all throughout summer. The next show I’m stoked about: Sublime with Rome and Rebelution as their opener playing Saturday August 29.
Some advice for future Marymoor Park concert attendees, early birds do get the best spots on the lawn and it’s worth it.
